wet fish slap

Did you ever feel like you got slapped in the face by a wet fish ? You know, when you take the ball and run with it ? When you spend your weekend worrying about and trying to resolve a situation ? You know, when you ring people on Monday and say : ” This…

St. Patrick’s Day Afterthought.

I’ve never bought into the whole St Patrick’s Day carry on. Can’t stand it. You know what I mean – the leprechaun hunting, Darby O’Gill watching, faith and begorrah roaring, shamrock wearing, beer swilling, parade marching, jigs and reels lepping, back clapping, cringe inducing idiocy that seems to have become part and parcel of our…

” The stars, Joxer, the stars ! “

” We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars. ” ( Oscar Wilde, Lady Windermere’s Fan.) I first saw this quote printed on the wall behind the bar of a pub in Blessington, Co. Wicklow. It was the first time I’d seen or even heard it. I was…

Walking Through Autumn

I wrote this poem a few months ago and walking in the forest yesterday brought it back to mind. I thought I’d share it even though it is Spring ! The forest looks nothing like it did last Autumn, as you would expect. The trees are still bare and the undergrowth has yet to emerge….

Keep on……

We all want, we all need , to be free. There are many elements at home, abroad and internationally who want to curtail our freedom. Let’s all join in with this song and sing it loud and sing it proud !!

Spotifying for you !

I’ve been listening to Maria McKee a lot recently. This was her big hit back in the day. For some reason I checked her out on Spotify and have been blown away by her music and songs.  Hope you enjoy this song. It featured in the film ” Days of Thunder “, I’ve been reliably…
