Winter has come.

Last night you passed away
From us and so
My grief for you
Begins today.
But in reality you were gone
Some time ago
And truth be told
I’ve been grieving
For a long time now.

Just as the last leaf
Clings to the branch,
Just as the last swallows
Prepare to fly,
Just as the first petal
Falls from the last
Of summer’s roses
So it was with you
In this your
Later time.

Though the last
Remnants of Autumn
Linger reminding us
Of brighter days,
This is how we know
Winter is already come
And the days of Summer
Are sadly gone.

  2. I know the last months have been particularly difficult for you and all your family. He, your Dad, is away at last and off to better things. Hope his spirit is soaring high and free in pure delight. x
